Germany was divided after the Second World War to reconnect and rebuild a country that had been left in ruins and alienated from the rest of Europe. Instead, it created a greater tension between the Western allies and the USSR. However, there were many ideals such as gender equality which were ahead of their time and exposed an inequality in the West that hasn't been brought to light.

'Ossis', a slang word for East Germany, focuses on the personal struggles and achievements in what was a very demonised society. I wanted to celebrate the ordered but vibrant design style of the East which brought to life stories and facts which were often overlooked by the more liberal Western side.
